Chaps - Kathleen
2013
I'm Kathleen a/k/a Chaps, a health-care chaplain and part-time superhero from Pennsylvania Dutch Country! I truly enjoy my life, and I have much to be grateful for: a wonderful husband, a herd of rescued furry children, a flock of old folks whose pastor I am privileged to be, a little house on the -- well, more suburb than prairie -- and a chronic, life-threatening health challenge which stays in remission as long as I stay SOP.
I came to Weight Watchers in April 2013 at age 52. I was literally dying from lupus, which was destroying my heart and lung tissue. I noticed that on days when I was too sick to eat, my inflammation levels were decreased the next day. My doctor told me to sign up for hospice, but I joined WW instead.
My lupus went into remission within 48 hours of following the Weight Watchers program, and I now have no lupus symptoms or blood markers whatsoever. My heart and lungs are stable, and are even regenerating a little bit. Pardon my language, but I am a total badass about staying SOP, because my life depends on it.
In April 2013, I had less than six months to live unless a miracle happened. That miracle is Weight Watchers and SOP, and now I am back at work and able to participate in pretty much any activity that I wish. My lifespan is increasing with every day that I stay SOP.
Gentle reader, overeating and junk food are killers. It might not be as obvious in your life as it was in mine, but obesity and poor nutrition are also shortening your lifespan. For me personally, I need to plan balanced and healthy meals, limit my exposure to processed foods, and follow my plan every day, no matter what. If you can identify with my story, SOP might be the community for you. The warmth and love, and honest and caring support, that I have found here is priceless. Thank you, SOPers, for saving my life!
