Sparkle - Renee
January 4, 2010
My name is Renee Miller, I am 50 years old and live in Northern Indiana. 2 miles south of the Michigan state line, 90 miles east of Chicago. I have lived here my entire life. I am married with no children. My sweet husband Jamie is my second husband. We have been married since 1996. We currently have 2 babies (cats) Buzz and Woody. We want another and are waiting for him to make himself known to us.
I work full-time (plus!) at a print shop and sit in front of a 21" monitor 10 hrs a day. In my spare time I make sparkly earrings and sell them. The name of my bead company is "Chasing Sparkles". I used to do Craft Shows in Nov and Dec, but now I keep a display at a gift shop in town and take custom orders. It's not a lot of money, but it keeps me in beads!! My husband is the lead singer for a popular local band. On weekends when Jamie isn't playing, we try to get on the water, either sailing, fishing or just floating.
My WW journey began in June '06 on a Friday night. I was at an outdoor gig listening to my husband sing. All of a sudden, I see my ex-brother in law running up to me. A funny look came over his face and he says: "oh, it's you... I thought you were your sister and then thought wow, she's gotten fat!" (No wonder he's my EX brother in law!! *jerk*) I joined WW the next morning.
My weight was 176 and I am 5'3.5". By Jan '07 I had lost 25 lbs. and quit, because I knew it all by then and could do it myself. By June '07 I had gained all the lost weight back. So I rejoined and have stuck with WW ever since. I lost 46 lbs. to reach my goal weight of 130 in Oct '08. I did well on Maintenance and then in Sept '09 I quit smoking cigarettes and stopped exercising. Now I am 152 lbs. and still 5'-3.5".
I joined this board Jan. 4, 2010 after lurking for a few days. I treasure the cyber-friends I have made here and am amazed at how close I feel to you all.

Chasing Sparkles...
The story behind the name of my jewelry company "Chasing Sparkles".
When I was a kid, our family lived on a small lake (88 acres). In Indiana, if a lake is under 100 acres speed boats are not allowed. It is a no-wake lake. What fun it was growing up there!! Year-round activities! Swimming, fishing, ice skating, etc. Needless to say, I was always thin when I was a kid -- we would swim all day in the summertime! I probably put my swimsuit on as soon as I got up and kept it on all day. We would play croquet when my Mom made us take a break. If it rained we always had a game of Monopoly set up. Since there were no speed boats allowed, it was safe to get in the inner tubes and float around the lake.
One of my favorite things to do was look out at the big sparkle patch in the middle of the lake created by the sun -- then get in my inner tube and try to chase them down. Off I would go, paddling and kicking and turning around to see if I was getting any closer. I wanted to be right in the middle of the sparkles!! This took all day! That sparkle patch was elusive... it was always moving around!
As an adult, I don't get on the lake as much as I would like. But when I do, Jamie knows where I want to be... in the middle of the sparkles. Whether we are on our sailboat, or in a power boat, he somehow manages to chase them down.
It still takes all day!!
When I die, I will be cremated and my ashes put in the lake in the middle of a sparkle patch.
