Kek - Kate
June 5, 2011
I’m Kate (or Kek- my initials Kathryn Elizabeth). I live near Harrisburg, PA where I am a stay at home mom to my three kids (Joe-6, Will-4, and Elizabeth-1). I met my husband as students at Penn State- we are huge fans . We lived in Maryland for 6 years where I taught kindergarten. After the birth of my oldest son we moved back to PA to be closer to family. I miss teaching but I’m enjoying getting to be home with my children.
I have struggled with my weight since I was fifteen and diagnosed with a thyroid deficiency. I went from healthy and active to exhausted and overweight in the year it took to get diagnosed. After I was put on medication I never really went back to my active lifestyle but I did developed some bad food habits. So this is when I first started weight watchers. My starting weight was in the 150s- I never really got it so I never made goal.
This was the start to a life long love-hate relationship with weight watchers (there was a also affair with LA Weight loss). I joined in college, first year teaching, 3rd year teaching, after the birth of my second baby, and this last time after the birth of my daughter. Something in me changed this time. I decided I was going to finish and I didn’t care how long it took.
My first month on weight watcher I found this thread. I joined but I wasn’t ready for commitment and needed to process the rules. I continued with weight watchers and occasionally lurked, but after 6 months I needed rev up my weight loss. I came to the thread and have never looked back. I’m so grateful to the ladies in this group and their accountability and support. In the past year I have lost almost 40 pounds. I know this time I will make my goal and maintain.
