Little Darkness - Jamie
August 14, 2012
Hello, I'm Jamie, a 25-year-old artist living in Chicago, IL. I live close to my friends and family with a roommate and two sugar gliders* (Aurora and Little Darkness). As you may have noticed, that's where I get my WW screenname. Although, people throughout my life have always noticed how "little I am", because I'm about 5 feet short - and so most of the Sopers call me "Little" too.
As an artist, I work as a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, and painter. I love doing anything creative, and get most of my energetic force from the pride in what I do and accomplishments I make. On the side I also love spending time with friends and family, cooking/baking, going to concerts, watching movies, reading, learning/trying new things and finding love in all aspects of life.
I was a WW member from the age of 12 to 16, then at a comfortable weight, lost sight of WW. Throughout college and after, I barely watched what I ate and started to notice that once again gaining. About 1 1/2 years ago, I got back from a vacation to Africa and realized I was up and down between 135-138 lbs (doesn't seem like much, but it's a lot for my size). So, I tried many ways to lose weight, some successful, but none as successful as WW and they support they offer. The Soper ladies have helped me with advice, quick tips, and kicks in the butt throughout my weight loss for the past several months! With their help, I am only a few pounds away from my initial big goal of 120 lbs.
I now know this is part of my lifestyle, not something I can let go of again. I am not just changing my habits for the better to reach one single goal, I am doing it for a lifetime of health and happiness.
*The Gliders: My Sugar gliders (nocturnal marsupials originating from Australia) look a lot like flying squirrels, with big eyes and ears for heightened senses, and sleep in pouches like the ones they were born in. They have an amazingly healthy diet of fruits, veggies, lean meats, and yogurt. My gliders' favorite foods are avocado, meal worms, and mango. Everyone should eat like a sugar glider! They also have different personalities. The female Aurora is independent, cautious and always hungry. The male, Little Darkness, is curious, friendly, and will ignore food if there is an adventure to be had!
