May 2009
My journey with Weight Watchers began early. In the early 1970s, when I was in junior high, my mother joined WW. I had a few pounds to lose, and she wanted me to learn more about eating right. She asked me to join her. I lost the weight and became a Lifetime member at age 12. Since then my weight has yo-yo’d. I’d go several years being thin and healthy, followed by several years being overweight and unhealthy, and so on.
When I joined the SOPers thread in 2009, something inside me clicked. I made a commitment to myself and my family that I would not carry extra weight into another year of my life. I’m done. I’m now below goal, wearing one size smaller than when I met my husband (and I was thin and health then), and loving life.
LIFE
I have been fortunate to be surrounded by many astoundingly brilliant and kind people. They – and my life experiences – have taught me the power of positive thinking. As a result, I do not suffer whining easily. If you can conceive of it in your mind, you can achieve it. That’s true of anything in your life.
I am a Chicago native; went to college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; met my heart in San Francisco and then moved there. Today my wonderful husband, freckle-faced 11-year old son, and lovable Labrador retriever live in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. We are fortunate to see the most beautiful mountains in the world right outside our front door. We love skiing, biking and hiking (Actually, I enjoy hiking. My boys tolerate it). And we are heavily into baseball. My son plays, my husband coaches, and I volunteer for various activities that keep everything running.
CAREER
For much of my career I’ve had my own marketing consulting business. Recently, I joined a large company (I won’t mention names, but you may be using their computers and printers right now) and work in interactive marketing. It’s work I enjoy, and for some reason my colleagues appreciate that work and me.
SOPers Rock.
