Syd - Sydney
January 20, 2011
My name is Sydney. I am 39 years old and have lived in Montana
all of my life. I have a husband of 17 years and two boys ages 8 and
9. My boys are six months apart. How this came to be is an
interesting story. My husband and I were married for five years when
we decided it was time for us to start our family. We had four
miscarriages
and our doctor finally told us that we had to make a decision, either
choose to adopt or choose to not have children. The choice of adoption
was an easy one. It was the waiting that was the hard part.
In February of 2002 we received a phone call telling us there was a 2 week old baby in need of ‘forever’ parents. We brought our little baby boy home and gave him all of our love. A few weeks later I told my husband I had something wrong with me and I needed to go to the doctor. I had been exercising and eating well for a few months and my pants kept getting tighter. I went to the doctor and they told me I was five months pregnant!
In August of 2002, we had a bouncing baby boy to be a little brother to our 6 month old boy. Wow! Two boys in one year! We were tired parents, but never so happy to finally have our family. God works in mysterious ways.
When I went to the hospital to have our son I weighed 199 lbs. I lost seven of those pounds when I had my seven pound baby. Since then I have been down to my goal weight of 145 and then back up to 180. It was at 180 that I finally said, “Enough!” I joined WW online and came across the SOPER girls on the message boards. I loved the tough talk and the accountability. Little did I know I had joined a tight knit group and I am proud to call them friends.
When I first started posting my menus I was called a “bread ball babe” by Leather. I thought, “Well, that isn’t very nice.” But I took her advice and cut out all of those gooey carbs that went right to my hips. I have lost 17 pounds so far. I am eating healthier than I ever have and I feel great! When I turn 40 this summer I plan on looking awesome!!
