Kapper - Gretchen
December 8, 2011
Hello, Ladies! My name is Gretchen, people on the thread call me Kapper. I’m 37 years old. I live with my husband, DES (dear exchange student, otherwise known as “the kid”) and our fur baby, Remi, an America Pit Bull Terrier. I teach in the public school system as a teacher of the visually impaired, and I can say that I love my job!
My struggles with weight started when I was in my late 20’s. I took care of it by working out, swimming and lifting weights. Then I stopped, and I got heavier. I have been off and on Weight Watchers around 3 or 4 times. My efforts to loose weight were unsuccessful. I didn’t keep the weight off.
This time around, I started with Weight Watchers in October 2011. I weighed in at 166, and so far I’ve taken off 18 pounds. I still have a ways to go, but I’m feeling good and doing the right things!
I was browsing the WW message boards and found the Out of Control board. I’ve the sense that my eating was out of control off and on since starting WW. I decided to see what I could find to help. I stared on the Binge Enders Challenge thread, because I had a binge and I wanted to stop that behavior. As I was doing the challenge, I lurked on the SOP thread. It looked strict at first, but as I kept reading, it started to make sense. I posted at the beginning of December 2011.
I still feel like a newbie, because my relationship with food, exercise, and my health is yet to be fully realized. I’m definitely a work in progress!
The SOP thread is a place where I feel fully supported, taught, encouraged, and accepted. This is the place that feels right. There have been moments where I know that I wouldn’t be as successful if it were not for my involvement with the SOPers!
